Green Issues

We have been doing "green" things ever since we opened in 2005 and our efforts have been recognised in the PubChef Awards which named us as The Green Initiative Pub of 2009.  We believe that all businesses have a duty to do whatever they reasonably can to ensure that their impact on the environment is minimised.  These are some of the ways we try to reduce our environmental impact.

Reduce our waste by ...
recycling our glass bottles and jars
recycling our cardboard packaging and waste
recycling our newspapers
recycling our plastic containers
composting our vegetable peelings, tea bags, coffee grouts, egg boxes and shells
converting our used chip fat into fuel

Save energy by ...
replacing lightbulbs with energy saving bulbs where possible
felling trees from our own woodlands to burn on our woodburner in winter that we re-plant
using solar powered lights in the garden
turning the thermostat down a couple of degrees

Reduce carbon emmissions by ...
buying produce locally to minimise food miles
encouraging our staff to cycle or walk to work
